As the United States moves away from a perennial war footing to one of peacetime, with thousands of citizen-soldiers becoming citizen-veterans each year, it becomes imperative for us to remember the debts we owe to previous generations who safeguarded our democracy

Did you know that slightly more than 20% of Air Force personnel are women? It’s not always blue skies and a tailwind though. There are ongoing issues with establishing “credibility” both on active duty and afterwards. Like all of the other services the USAF has had its issues with incorporating women, and women Veterans of the Air Force have faced issues similar to those from other services. Herewith two articles, the first a brief history, and the second detailing the struggle of WASP pilots and their quest for Veteran status.
